Standard Attainment Tests (SATs)
SATs are national tests that children take at the end of Key Stage 2 (KS2) in Year 6. From 2024, end of Key Stage 1 (KS1) SATS are non-statutory, meaning that primary schools will be able to choose whether or not they administer them. These standardised tests are actually known as End of Key Stage Tests and Assessments, but most people know them as SATs.
Standards and Testing Agency (STA): The purpose of the STA is to provide an effective and robust testing, assessment and moderation system to measure and monitor pupils’ progress and attainment through primary school from reception to the end of key stage 2 (KS2). They are also responsible for managing the general qualifications logistics service provided to exam centres and examiners. Click here to go to the STA website.
