Dear Year 3 and 4 Parents,
We are looking forward to our trip to Thorndon Country Park on Friday, here are a few guidelines to help your child prepare for our trip.
Children will need to arrive promptly at the start of the school day and go to their classrooms.
Children will need to bring a packed lunch in a bag that will be locked away during activity time. Please ensure your child’s packed lunch follows school lunch guidelines and does not contain nuts. There will not be facilities for us to dispose of rubbish so children will be asked to put waste back into their lunch boxes to bring home.
Children should bring their water bottles in their bags, drinking water is available on the site to refill bottles as needed.
Children may bring a small snack for when we arrive that follows the usual school snack guidelines, this will need to be packed separately from their packed lunch.
The education rangers will continue activities in all weathers as long as it is deemed safe. Children will require to dress suitably for being in the forest in changeable weather conditions. Dressing appropriately can have a big impact on participants’ enjoyment of the day and their wellbeing. Please note that inappropriate clothing or footwear may prohibit children from safely participating in some activities. It is recommended they wear layers of clothes. Children will wear their school uniform top and jumper, old long trousers that can get muddy, wellies or old muddy shoes, and a waterproof coat. Please ensure all of your child’s clothing has their name in.
We aim to be back to school by the end of the normal school day. If there are any issues with traffic that cause us to be delayed, then you will be notified by a Jotter app message. Children will go back to their classrooms to be dismissed on return from the trip to ensure a safe handover.
