Dear Parents/Carers,

This week in school, we are taking part in antibullying week which is organised every year by the Anti-bullying alliance. The focus for this year is ‘Make a noise about bullying’. We will be reminding the children how important it is to speak up if they feel they, or someone they know, is being bullied. We will also be reminding pupils the difference between falling out with someone, having a disagreement and bullying. Bullying is: ‘The repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power. Bullying can be physical, verbal or psychological’.
As part of the focus this week, we will be exploring a range of different books that have a theme of equality, and ‘all different all equal’. This may cover concepts involving different family structures, race, religion and gender equality.
All classes will also be taking part in a poetry slam! This is where pupils/groups will write their own poem related to bullying, and they will perform it to their class which we hope they will all really enjoy doing.
