Dear Families,

Our school has a Food From Home Policy to help our children develop healthy eating habits and ensure that they get the energy and nutrition they need across the whole school day. We also have the policy to outline what foods can't be brought in from home to avoid certain high-risk foods coming into school to reduce the chances of someone experiencing an allergic reaction.

Recently, we have had children bring in chocolate-nut spread (such as Nutella). We acknowledge that it is impractical to enforce an allergen-free school, so our policy sets out guidelines of foods that must not be in packed lunches or snacks - these are foods that include:
• Packaged nuts
• Cereal, granola or chocolate bars containing nuts
• Peanut butter or chocolate spreads containing nuts
• Peanut-based sauces, such as satay
• Sesame seeds and foods containing sesame seeds

As in line with our policy, If a pupil brings these foods into school, they may be asked to eat them away from others to minimise the risk, or the food may be confiscated.
